Did You Know Your Bottles And Cans Can Raise Money For The Food Bank?

The food bank is blessed with the heartfelt intention and action of Ashland High School student Leo Garcia, who set-up the food bank as the recipient of Bottle Drop funds. If you are unfamiliar with Bottle Drop, this is the tool at ShopNKart and Ashland Food Co-op for redeeming your returnable glass bottles and cans (beverage containers including juice bottles, not wine).  Now, because of Leo’s initiative, the food bank can receive the value of these returnables. If lots of folks participate, we could net thousands of dollars from this program. And it’s so simple!

Here are the steps:

  • Pick up a non-profit Bottle Drop Blue Bag from the food bank, TC Chevy, or Ashland’s Recycling Center
  • Save all your returnables in this Blue Bag
  • When you are ready to turn them in, simply take the bag to any Bottle Drop location, scan the code on the bag, and put your returnables in the drop box.
  • The closest Bottle Drop locations are at the Ashland Food Co-op or ShopNKart.
  • You do NOT need to set up an account with Bottle Drop to participate, you simply need a Blue Bag.
