Helping Our Neighbors this Holiday Season

As we approach winter in the Rogue Valley, there is a growing need for support within our communities to help alleviate hunger. The challenges are real. And, the ability to make positive change is within our collective reach.

If you have been watching or reading the news lately you will know that food banks all around the country are struggling to feed the ever-increasing numbers of those in need. The Ashland Emergency Food Bank is no exception. They are providing food to over 500 households each month, and the numbers continue to climb. In the last four months there have been over 250 new households who have signed up. AFP provides about 35% of the food they use in their homes and adds important variety to people’s kitchens. We are hoping to supply them with as much food as possible to fill their shelves.

We continually lose donors due to people’s changing circumstances, and we do our best to replace those with new donors. Get involved! Spread the word. Tell your neighbors and friends about AFP, and have them sign up online (or get their information and send it to us!).

Here is list from the food bank for most needed items:

· Baby Wipes
· Beef Stew
· Broth (all types)
· Canned fruit
· Canned Ravioli
· Canned Tomatoes
· Cereal (Cheerios, Corn Flakes, Instant Oatmeal, Rice Krispies, Raisin Bran)
· Cooking Oil
· Tofu packaged in aseptic cartons
· Tuna
No yogurt containers please 🙂

If you prefer to give a cash donation, you can donate online to the Ashland Food Project or directly to the Ashland Emergency Food Bank.

Thank you for your participation, and we wish each of you a happy holiday season and Happy New Year!
