This May, the Ashland community has another opportunity to offer local support for those in need. Join us on May 11, 2024, for the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC) Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, a powerful community event that has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive since its inception in 1993.
Event Details:
- What: National Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive
- When: Saturday, May 11th
- Where: Right here at home!
- How: Simply place non-perishable food items in or near your mailbox on the morning of May 11. Your local letter carriers will collect the donations and deliver them to the Ashland Community Food Bank (ACFB).
The ACFB plays a crucial role in our community, especially in times of increased need. Since the reduction of SNAP benefits, the demand at the food bank has surged by over 40%. Currently, ACFB distributes almost 2,000 pounds of food daily to families and individuals facing food insecurity.
Most Needed Items:
- Cereal
- Broth (Beef, Chicken, Veggie)
- Chili (Beef, Turkey, Vegetarian)
- Pork & Beans
- Canned Chicken
- Non-dairy Milks (Almond, Rice)
Volunteers are also needed to help sort and package the collected items at the post office before they are distributed to the food bank. For more information about how you can participate or volunteer, please call the Ashland Community Food Bank at 541-488-9544.
